Gifford, 1876", early dawn light with two men rowing to a two-masted sailing vessel on a calm sea, cliffs on the right side with other sailing vessels in the distance,(two small holes - one in the cliff, and one in the rowboat), pencil writing on back difficult to read "...Grand Manan", 12" x 20". Lot 90. Early 19th c. New England, inlaid mahogany, Tambour style writing desk, molded top section with double hinged folding doors, finely reeded front panels with two matching highly figured mahogany veneered oval panels, in boxwood inlaid rectangles opening to an interior with pigeonhole compartments over four small drawers on a base with lift lid, with large oval figured mahogany veneer with delicate inlaid surround and a central lock with bone escutcheon plate, opening to a green felt writing surface and two pencil holders, above two drawers with similar matched oval figured mahogany veneers, with finely inlaid borders, brass pulls and shield shaped bone escutcheons, all on finely reeded and tapered legs on a tall turned foot, pine and chestnut secondary woods, minor imperfections, 45 1/2" h, 36" w. $4,972.50

New England, pine and maple hutch table, early red painted surface, circular two-board top, 46 1/2" dia (one board measures 30" w), shaped cleats, pegged and mortised arms, chamfered supports, pine seat with dovetailed drawer under, chamfered legs, 17" seat h, 29 1/2" overall h. $2,925.00
Lot 50. 18th c. Pennsylvania pine blanket chest, in original blue paint, breadboard molded top, original strap hinges, interior till, original spring-load lock and key, dovetailed case above three small drawers, dovetailed on an ogee bracket base, some repairs, signed in chalk under lid "Jacob Wein, October 26, 1801", 30" h, 50" w, 22" d. $2,632.50
Lot 8. Extremely rare American Slave Documents Rare slave documents: eight (8) printed receipts of "Auctioneers" and "Negro Brokers" with written script in ink of dates, values, names, age, and witness and seal; i.e., "Richmond Va, Feb. 28, 1861, Received of Jos. Silver, Esq., Twelve Hundred Dollars, being paid in full for the purchase of one Negro Slave named 'Armistead', the right and title of said slave...warrant him sound and healthy...witness my hand and seal 'Sneed Young'." Four receipts are dated 1861, all from Richmond, Virginia, and are on average $1,000+ a piece, with a family of "Edward, Lucy and her three children Milly, Frances and Martha" being sold for Twenty Six Hundred Dollars; the other four receipts are from Atlanta, Georgia, dated Dec. 23, 1862, all sold to Joseph Silver with the price per slave at average $1,500 per man, i.e., "Fifteen Hundred Dollars paid in full for one Negro Slave named 'Dick', Nineteen years old."; eight documents measuring approximately 8" x 2 1/2".$3,042.00
Lot 1. Einstein letter: Einstein, Albert (1879-1955), autographed typed letter, The Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton University letterhead to Dr. William Kimball of Michigan State College, dated Jan. 24, 1939, typed in German, single sheet, signed on reverse in black ink Albert Einstein., letter was folded, with small imperfections at folds, otherwise very good condition with distinct signature, (consigned from relative of Dr. Kimball), 9 7/8" x 7 7/8". $2,457.00
Lot 28. 19th c. matching toy carved wood bedroom set: four-poster bed with foot and headboard, 9 1/2" l; wash stand, (missing drawer - one side), 5 1/4" h; drying rack, paper labeled "Manufactured by Samuel Hersey, Hersey Street, Hingham, Mass.", 4" h; and a three-drawer chest with same label, "Samuel Hersey" inside top drawer, and pencil signed "Presented to Bessie, by sister Carrie - May, 1869", 5" h, 6 1/2" w; all pieces are decorated with green paint - "N" stencil and line. $4,914.00
19th c. New England needlework sampler, depicting a wreath of white roses and birds, dated 1828, "Wrought by Mary M. Brigham (Brigham's Ice Cream family), Born April 27th 1816, Aged 12 yrs, East Sudbury (Mass), Sept 26th 1828", framed, 19 1/2" x 17". $2,106.00
Early 20th c. Rookwood vase, high glaze, Iris Pattern, white poppies design with green stems, light blue base graduating to cobalt blue at the rim, stamped on bottom "C.A.B. (Constance Baker), 927D", 8" h. $2,223.00
