Descended through eight generations of the Benjamin Merriam family of Lexington, Massachusetts. This important chest was in Lexington's Buckman Tavern, a well known meeting place for Patriots, which was pictured in the Amos Doolittle engraving of "The Battle of Lexington April 19, 1775". 70" high, 36" wide case top, 38"wide case bottom, 21" deep, brasses appear to be original
