Warren signature
An important document, signed by Joseph
Warren as President of the Provincial Congress, appointing Gideon
Foster a Captain of the First Company in the Regiment of Foot, of
whom Jonathan Mansfield Esq. was Colonel, raised by the Congress for
the Defense of said Colony. Dated the 19th of May 1775.
(One month before this document was signed, Warren had dispatched
Paul Revere to give the alarm on the road toward Concord. ~
Gen. Warren was killed at the Battle of Bunker Hill one month after
signing this document.)
