1946, thanking Mr. Gorfinkle for his "kind letter...Unfortunately, poor
health does not permit me anymore to undertake such trips...", signed in
black ink "A. Einstein", one page 11" x 8 1/2", blind stamped personal
letterhead "A. Einstein, 112 Mercer Street, Princeton New Jersey, U.S.A.",
some yellowing along top edge and minor yellowing along sides, small tear in
lower right section, fold lines, otherwise good with very clear signature.
Note: Bernard Gorfinkle of Boston (1889-1973) fought in WWI and was an aide
to President Woodrow Wilson. He was present at the signing of the Treaty of
Versaille. He eventually was promoted to Brigadier General by Gov. John J.
Volpe of Massachusetts in 1962. He was a U.S. Attorney graduating from B.U.
Law School in 1911 and became a much celebrated community leader in Boston
