finish, one-piece construction from a hollowed log, stamped "WOL" on handle
(Wm. Lincoln 1729-1792), iron hasps added later to stop cracking of
wood, "one of the oldest surviving Hingham woodenware artifacts." (JPR), 29"

Note: this is one of the earliest brass candlesticks ever found with a
Hingham history dating to Samuel Lincoln (1622-1690), one of Hingham's
earliest Settlers, who helped build the Old Ship Church, and was Great,
Great, Great, Great Grandfather of President Abraham Lincoln.

corner of Beal and North Street.
